Those small, flesh coloured, pearly, painless and round bumps on your skin could be
Molluscum Contagiosum.

Yes it is a viral skin infection and is very common among children but adults can be equally affected.

Cause :
Molluscum contagiosum is caused by pox virus called the molluscum contagiosum virus.

Spread and risk factors:

If you come in contact with pox virus contaminated object or surface such as touching contaminated towels, clothes or toys.

Sexual contact: Molluscum contagiosum also spreads through sexual contact with a person infected with molluscum contagiosum virus.

Weak immunity:
People with a poor immune system are at a higher risk of getting infected with molluscum contagiosum.

Sign and Symptoms:
The eruptions in molluscum contagiosum are small, round, painless, pearly, flesh coloured papules. The papules have a dimple in the centre.
Size: The eruption could be between 1mm and 5mm in diameter.

There could be irritation and itching in eruptions. Sometimes a cheesy substance come come out of the papules.

Location:
The commonest location for molluscum contagiosum eruptions are the face, neck, eyelids, nose, arms and hands, armpits, chest, abdomen,etc.

In adults lower abdomen, the genitals, back and inner thighs can also be affected in cases of sexually transmitted infection.

Treatment of Molluscum Contagiosum

A 5-year-old girl was treated for her molluscum contagiosum and medicines prescribed after complete case taking and repertorisation were sulphur 30 x 6pills x once a day x 7days and silicea 30 x 4pills x tds for 15days. Also a stat dose of tuberculinum 200 was given in next follow up.
